Birthday/Weekend Recap

Wednesday was my birthday and we had a full weekend continuing the birthday celebration, so I decided to combine them into one post. I turned the big 24 (am I older/younger than you thought?) and had a great few days thanks to some wonderful family members, friends, and of course, my awesome husband.

I woke up the morning of my birthday to breakfast in bed with alllll of my favorites! David’s been doing this for a few years now, and I just love it! It’s so thoughtful, and it means we get to enjoy breakfast together before he leaves for work which is totally out of the norm.

I got the sweetest birthday messages, wall posts, tweets, and texts throughout the day with my favorite maybe being from my sweet nieces and nephews. My SIL sent me a picture of the twins with a happy birthday sign, and my sister called and left a voicemail with all of the kids wishing me a happy birthday and telling me how much they loved me. It left me in tears (only because I miss them so darn much!) but made my day, too!

I had lunch with my mom at a local pizza place after a nice gym visit with her. I had her take some progress pictures since I haven’t done any (aside from self/mirror shots) in quite awhile – So exciting seeing those muscles grow! :)

I got my nails done, one of my sweet friends brought over some (mint flavored!) goodies, we had dinner with my parents at my/our very favorite restaurant, and David gave me my card and gifts when we got home. I am in LOVE with the aromatherapy line from Bath and Body Works now!

Thursday was David’s sister’s first high school soccer game, so we went to that (and enjoyed being out in the awesome weather!) and then had dinner with her and my MIL. My MIL’s gift? A sweet card and gift card to Ross! Talk about perfect! I also ran my fastest outdoor 5K ever on Thursday, thanks to the beautiful sunshine, I think!

Friday called for an awesome workout after all of the eating out/enjoying anything and everything I wanted/dessert over the last few days and because I knew I was going to enjoy myself Friday evening! I killed it at the gym and felt awesome (and it was in the 80s on Friday!) so I got in an outdoor run and a walk with Paisley after I got home! I don’t know what it is, but nice weather just calls for a sundress, flip flops, and a Sonic diet cherry limeaide while driving with the windows down and the music up. I’m so ready for spring/summer/consistent warmth!

I had a Young Lives mentor event for a bit Friday evening, and then headed to meet all of our friends for dinner and drinks to celebrate my birthday with them! If you recall, I’d bought a dress that I was SO excited to wear and it was so stinking cute on. Well, we parked and were getting ready to walk into the restaurant, and I tried to grab something off the floorboard of the car, and the cheap zipper on the dress completely separated. And of course I couldn’t fix it without taking the dress off (and even now, I still can’t fix it) soooo I ended up having David go in to get our table/meet our friends as they arrived and I drove back home and changed. Thankfully I’m a dress hoarder and had one I could wear instead. Sheesh. I will say, the company I ordered the dress from responded to my tweet and said they’ll fix the situation, so at least that’s good.

We had such a fun night, but I definitely missed my best friend! They’ve happened to be in Kansas for my birthday (usually around spring break, and it’s around her sister’s birthday) the last few years, so it was sad without them!

Saturday, we were able to sleep in and it was SO nice! We got up and went to the gym – together! David joined not long ago, and I love having him come with me. I made him take a picture to document his awesome introductory workout on the stair climber. As you can see, he loved it. ;) I had one of the weights areas all to myself and worked hard on the bench press!

We grabbed lunch from the salad bar, I dropped David off at home, and then I was off to meet my mom at a local ‘collective’ store with several local artists/crafters who sell their items together. They were having their spring kickoff sale and I love browsing! Then it was home to get ready for our first wedding of the year! One of David’s good guy friends from our high school class and baseball teammate got married, so it was a mini class reunion. We had a great time, but I (oddly) didn’t take any pictures! Afterward we went to a surprise going away party for another good friend from high school who’s moving to France for work!

Maybe the most exciting part of the weekend, though, happened while we were at the wedding! We were on the dance floor doing the Cupid Shuffle, and I went to check my phone afterward. I had 2 missed calls from my best friend and knew right away something was up. I headed to a quiet hallway to call her back, but she was already calling me again. I answered and found out SHE GOT ENGAGED!! Eeeeeeeee! I can’t even tell you how excited I am. David and I LOVE her fiancĂ©  and are SO so happy for them. Let the planning begin!!

On Sunday we had church and lunch with my family like normal, and then spent the whole rest of the day deep cleaning the house. It desperately needed it and it feels so much better now! I need to reorganize my office after the craziness of the bridal show, but I’m finishing that today and then the entire house will be finished!

{I had the hardest time finding something green for church – I apparently don’t own much of it!}

Whew! I THINK that covers everything regarding my birthday/this weekend. It was another crazy one, but so good. I’ve got a big smile on my face this morning! :) Happy Monday!

Linking up with Syndal & Sar!
